Foreign Shores
05:07
|
|||
No I don’t know to where I am headed
Alone in this storm that the summer has brought in
For me you’re the floor that has captured my falling
But time tears down this home that kept me from, the flooded ground
Does nobody know where the wind set my body to lay
Now I’m just a face left deserted in the morning rain
These people keep searching for something or somewhere to stay
But I’d rather be home here with you than lost in a dense city’s maze.
Washed up on the sand of a foreign shore
There’s a long way to go but no I won’t find you
Roadside to my mind wasn’t here before
Like driftwood in this storm, these waves, I will fall through
Confused in the change that the new day has lifted
There are shackles to hold to my prescribed destination
To the seasons I lost you and from now on I’m drifting
But there’s no rhythm to hold like that beat and its unsteady hand
Does nobody know where the wind set my body to lay
Now I’m just a face left deserted in the morning rain
These people keep searching for something or somewhere to stay
But I’d rather be home here with you than lost in a dense city’s maze.
Washed up on the sand of a foreign shore
There’s a long way to go but no I won’t find you
Roadside to my mind wasn’t here before
Like driftwood in this storm, these waves, I will fall through
Running from these voices that tell me
There’s no earth left on the ground
Left you at the airport not knowing
How to move on away from what I’ve found
But I don’t want to move on, away from here where I am
I don’t want to think that I will never hear your voice again
Need to find a way to move on, find a way to stand alone
The will to roam through life’s storm when you’ve left for a foreign shore.
Washed up on the sand of a foreign shore
There’s a long way to go but no I won’t find you
Road sign in my mind wasn’t here before
Like driftwood in this storm, these waves, I will fall through

Winter's Reminder
05:32
|
|||
A day apart from luminescence
When dim winds bite ice
And the withered stamps of our presence
Look us in the eyes
To show how were contented
As the thought was left alone,
The dim winds of winter,
The chill that brings us home.
The giants reaching downward
Into the rusting of the earth
While speckled tears run down his shoulders
Asking the question of his worth
A misplaced foot drips from its shoestrings
Approaching warmness at its edge
A simple liar to the pathway
Has found the quickest way to death.

Paper Mountains
03:58
|

I got this postcard in the mail, all the way from Colorado
Says they’ll find me that place in the sun (said they’ll take me there)
But only if I jump behind the right man to follow
And work until my days here are done
I signed my name down as a servant of the violence
But when they come, I’ll throw their rifles to hell (and they can leave them there)
Cause I won’t be a part of this advertised alliance
They won’t pay me to leave as a shell
Hey now, there's a right path to take but we just don’t know how
Hey now, futures pass me by while I’m dancing on the side of the road
A man stands alone on the corner of the street
Is he asking for a little bit of change?
I said, “I’d give you what I have in my pockets man
but the world would not rearrange”
So I drove my car back to the market
To buy a bottle of some child’s sweat
I can’t tell you what’s in it but he’s nameless and distant
So I’ll put some cash where his shackles are kept
Hey now, there's a right path to take but we just don’t know how
Hey now, futures pass me by while I’m dancing on the side of the road
When you left behind the rain, it was diluted with your kisses
Was that the only thing that kept me here?
Should I put that all behind to be an implant of the vision
and lose myself in all of my fears?
But these winding mountain trails: they are my temple and my riches
As long as I can stand on my feet
There’s a life there on the pavement with the big mens’ broken business
But that’s not the one I’d like to see
Hey now, there's a right path to take but we just don’t know how
Hey now, futures pass me by while I’m dancing on the side of the road

River's End
04:19
|
|||
I jumped like a stone into this river and rain
Thirst from the summer’s drought
Looking for laughter with our clothes on the ground
But I don’t feel you anymore
I’ve been singing your song for a year's worth of nights
A clipped and caged bird can still show you the light
The sky’s thoughts are blank so I choke on my words
Have I run dry this well
You, gave me laughter, but you
Left my mind lost in the sky
But I reach out through the blackness
Need to get out before I
I want to leave here but I
Don’t want to leave you on the ground
But I feel your waters rising
Need to get out before I drown
It felt for a time I could be cut loose and going
Drying my clothes out by the windy ocean
And dancing into the daylight alone
Finally alone
The light in your eyes says I should not be leaving
As the water reflects my lost list of reasons
For they’ve drifted down stream through my disarrayed mind
And I no longer see which way to go
